"Literary work" includes tables, compilations and computer programmes, that is to say, programmes recorded on any disc, tape, perforated media or other information storage device, which, if fed into or located in a computer or computer based equipment is capable of reproducing any information.

"Dramatic work" includes any piece for recitation, choreographic work or entertainment in dumb show, the scenic arrangement or acting form of which is fixed in writing or otherwise but does not include a cinematograph film;

"Musical work" means any combination of melody and harmony or either of them, printed, reduced to writing or otherwise graphically produced or reproduced;

"Cinematograph film" includes the sound track, if any, and "cinematograph" shall be construed as including any work produced by any process analogous to cinematography;

"Records" means any disc, tape, perforated roll or other device in which sounds are embodied so as to capable of being reproduced therefrom, other than a sound track associated with a cinematograph film;

All the copyright applications are filed with the Registrar of Copyrights in the Copyright Office.

The author of the work shall be the first owner of the copyright.

The copyright can be assigned and it is valid only when it is in writing signed by the assignor or by his duly authorised agent. If there is any dispute regarding the assignment of Copyright, between two parties, then the Copyright board on hearing pass such orders by giving permission to the owner to revoke his assignment and if any unduly delay, he may issue a certificate for the recovery of any royalty due to the owner.

The author of a work may relinquish all or any of his rights by giving notice in the prescribed form to the Registrar of Copyrights and thereupon such right cease to exist from the date of the notice.

The term of the Copyright is the lifetime of the author or sixty years whichever is longer.

b)cinematograph films; and

c)records.
